The Full Circle Funerals Story
Sarah Jones founded Full Circle Funerals in September 2016. She started her career as a surgeon in the NHS and more recently owned and managed residential care homes for adults with learning difficulties. She has always felt that funerals are important and that with the right support, the arranging process and funeral could be a therapeutic process. So, Sarah decided to launch a disrupter business that would deliver modern funeral care, with a person-centred approach.
The Market
The UK Funeral Industry is worth around £1 billion annually with over 600,000 funerals taking place each year. It is a currently unregulated market that anyone can enter, and many funeral directors are family owned, having been passed down through the generations. The two major players in the industry are the Co-operative Group and Dignity PLC who between them account for around 25% of all funerals in the UK, so most funeral directors are privately owned, independent businesses. Unlike every other marketplace, demand for funeral services will always exist but despite this it is a competitive environment with many different funeral directors to choose from.
How your franchise works
You’ll offer a service which supports people to express their funeral wishes, purchase pre-paid funeral plans and to create funerals at need (after someone has died). You will use your own private ambulance to bring the person who has died into your care and look after them in your own on-site mortuary.
Located in premises in highly visibility locations, experience has taught us a lot about the right type of building and our team takes great care to research new places based on clear criteria. As a franchise owner you’ll follow the same premises, fixtures, fittings and furniture blueprint and will be helped to create a warm and attractive environment which enables the delivery of person-centred support.
Training
Our role is to teach you how to deliver the best possible support to the families who choose to use your service. We will provide everything you need to open your service and then support you and your team on an ongoing basis.
Your success, regardless of your previous commercial experience will depend on your willingness to learning new skills and motivation to continually improve the quality of your care.
Our initial training will see you working with us at our Guiseley Head Office for four weeks. This is followed by ongoing support and guidance on a continual basis for you and your team, as and how it is needed.
We recognise that being a Funeral Director is very rewarding (indeed a privilege) but delivering good care and running a business can be demanding. This means that our support extends to hands on services including recruitment and HR support, operational advice and updates, IT support, marketing and providing the opportunity to reflect on practice in a structured manner with an emphasis on shared learning.
