New Revenue Stream Sees 30% Increase For Franchisees
An innovative and industry-leading development has seen in-home tutoring brand, Tutor Doctor, make significant impact in the UK school’s market. Franchisees are reaping the benefits of the new revenue stream, increasing turnover for the first half of the year by almost 30% compared to 2021.
The revolutionary route to market is a result of a collaboration between the team at Tutor Doctor head office and a focus group of its franchisees. Together they created a bespoke suite of marketing collateral, process documents, how-to webinars and even tutor education programmes to help all 78 members of the UK network capitalise on the new revenue stream. A demonstration of the power franchising at its best!
“We have just had our biggest ever quarter and this growth is driven by our work with schools,” says Rob Kerrison of Tutor Doctor Cambridge and Norwich. “Our school revenues this March are three times more than last year as the programmes we are now running are far broader and more complex and we need to provide a stronger team with more tutors, more variety and flexibility. We deliver an exceptional service to these schools, and they really value the work we do.”
Tutor Doctor franchisees work closely with over 50 schools across the country. A testament to the exceptional quality of its service and the regard in which the brand is held, Tutor Doctor is the only tutoring franchise in the country accredited by the National Tutoring Programme (NTP). The NTP is a government-funded, sector-led initiative to support schools as they strive to address the impact of Covid-19 on pupils’ learning.
Frank Milner, President of Tutor Doctor, explains: “We have always encouraged our franchisees to build relationships with their local schools, but recent events highlighted the importance of such partnerships and the opportunities they provide – for students, schools and franchisees alike. In collaboration with a pioneering group of franchisees, we’ve developed a system that helps franchisees translate the specific needs of schools and educators into an outcome-focussed service that can be replicated throughout their territory.
“Through our continued commitment to support students through these programmes, we’re seeing tutoring becoming more relied upon to supplement mainstream education. And, thanks to additional government funding being made available, this much needed service has become more available to students who, in the past, may not have been able to access it.”
Piyush Gupta, franchisee for Tutor Doctor Peterborough, drove an increase in his business’ revenue of over 100% in the last year alone. In Q1 of 2022, his franchise ranked number two for sales not just in the UK, but globally, for the entire Tutor Doctor network. As part of the Schools’ Market focus group, Piyush and the team concentrated on building valuable partnerships with local schools in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Working with schools has been a huge contributing factor to our success. This is something that the entire network has been able to benefit from. These new solutions mean we can continue delivering education to those in need and help address the learning loss. In this academic year alone, we’re on track to deliver 11,000 hours of education in various capacities! We’ve proven ourselves to be a trusted, reliable partner and as such, now have a close relationship with the local authorities. This has also seen us become the main education provider to children in care or not in education.”
Tutor Doctor is the fastest-growing in-home tutoring franchise in the world, with over 700 franchise units operating in 16 countries. Franchisees manage a team of tutors and work closely with families and schools to identify individual the needs of each student whether online or in person, so that they can learn in the comfort of their own home, at a time that suits them. As successful business owners at the heart of the local community, franchisees help children to achieve their potential and change lives for the better.
“The ongoing impact we’re having in the schools’ market truly affirms our collective mission to change the trajectory of students’ lives,” adds Frank.
